Our storage company assures you that storing your stuff can be a positive experience.  Use these storage tips, and you will see how simple it is to make your items accessible, protected and secure.  All it takes is a little management and planning. 

First thing you need to do is make sure you have all the supplies you will need to protect and pack you items before you start moving your thing's.

Don't forget to mark all your boxes with it’s contents so that you know exactly what’s inside them.  It also helps to make a list and map of where you can find each box etc.  It is very important to use the correct size boxes when packing your things.  NOTE: Use the larger boxes for the lighter items such as linens, and use the smaller boxes for things that are heavier (book’s, DVD’s, CD’s, etc.).  If you combine different weight’s in one box, put the heavier thing’s on bottom and make sure you write on outside of box “This side up”.  Also make sure you write if contents are breakable.

Make sure you securely seal your boxes by using packing tape, also be sure you don’t over pack boxes so  the tops are flat for stack ability.

It is very important to use the correct packing materials to protect your things, such as wrapping paper, dust cover pads, etc. You should avoid  tossing thing’s in a closed plastic bag (i.e. garbage bag) this may cause mildew from lack of ventilation.

It's always a good idea to break down any furniture as much as possible, such as bed frames,  tables with removable leaves and legs.  Be sure you keep the disassembled  parts of bed frames together by lashing them together with twine or tape, and then put all the small screws and bolts in a sealed zip plastic bag and attach to frame with some tape.

Wrap breakable stuff individually and be sure to pad the box with bubble wrap or packing paper.

To help keep your fabrics free of any dust or dirt  just cover with a plastic dust cover and use the poly mattress bag's your mattress’.

When you put things in your unit make sure to give it a little planning.  Be sure you keep the things you use most towards the front so it is easily accessed.

It's always recommended that when you are stacking items, you put the heaviest boxes on the bottom (making sure there are no breakable’s in the box.) And make the most out of your space, stack it to the top.

It is a good idea to leave a little space between the wall of unit and your items, this is a good way to keep good ventilation in the unit.
